We are currentlly working on simulating unsteady behaviour of future rocket flame trench. We use GridPro to create fully block structured mesh of the whole case (around 26k blocks and 15Mcells for a quarter of the domain).

We then use OpenFOAM and our in house CFD solver MISTRAL to evaluate pressures, heat fluxes and skin friction in different flame trench shapes. Various deflectors will be also studied in the coming weeks.

The simulations typically covers ignition of two different propulsors one after another as it can be seen on the animation. They last 5s of physical time.
